It all began in the Adirondack Mountains of New York state.
Virginia Abrasives’ roots date back to the early 1970’s, when a hard rock garnet mining business in the Adirondack mountains of New York decided to invest in the sandpaper manufacturing business.
Our initial focus was aimed at producing the world’s best sandpaper, using hard-rock garnet abrasives. Over time and due to customer requests, the company’s markets as well as product lines have expanded into a broader offering for the construction trades.
Now our home for manufacturing high quality abrasives and supplying dependable rental equipment is in Petersburg, Virginia. Celebrating our 50th year in business, we are poised to service the needs of flooring professionals and rental customers for many more years to come.
